What is ‘Here for Hereford’?
‘Here for Hereford’ is a non-political watchdog, examining Herefordshire Council plans and documents, and investigating their implications for people living in the County. It reports on this work regularly on its website: www.hereforhereford.co.uk
The organisation has an active membership of around 70 people, with more than 500 followers on Twitter. A small executive group meets approximately once a month.
‘Here for Hereford’ is concentrating at the moment on the Council’s Draft Local Plan Core Strategy, analysing transport infrastructure, housing, and public services including hospital provision, water resources and waste disposal. It has arranged a number of public meetings to debate these issues in Whitecross, Breinton and Belmont, attended by up to 150 people, including Bill Wiggin, MP, and Parish and Ward Councillors. It welcomes feedback, and submits recommendations not just to the Council, but to consultations such as on the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership Draft Strategic Economic Plan and on the Highways Agency’s Route-based Strategies. It keeps in touch with other statutory bodies such as Natural England and the Environment Agency.
‘Here for Hereford’ campaigns for accurate, independent, and factual information to be made publicly available. That is what it stands for.
